Our Initiatives (And future projects).

TEAL is democratizing education across several approaches. Learn more about our initiatives below.

Town halls

We want to provide teachers with a space to lead thoughtful and constructive discussion regarding their concerns and desires for the profession.

The end of each session will culminate in a co-created agenda that outlines the top priorities of the teachers in attendance.

Co-Creation Labs

Teachers know the resources they need and should have access to the time, space, and resources to create them.

These sessions can be geared towards any kind of curricular piece or policy brief, including curriculum outlines, lesson plans, activities, worksheets, and more.

It’s totally up to the teachers.

Roundtables

These roundtables will be subdivided into two types: policy and curriculum

By getting teachers in the same room with policy makers and curriculum developers, they will have the opportunity to provide feedback on proposals and offer suggestions for improving them – resulting in more practical, current, and achievable outputs

We will implement a “stoplight review” method, where teachers highlight things to keep (green), change (yellow), and discard (red).

Certifications

TEAL offers certifications to organizations, curriculums, and policies that have been co-created with educators from our network. This demonstrates that these resources align with our teacher-centered values, and acknowledge the role that teacher expertise played in their development.

Educators can be confident that these resources were developed with them in mind, while organizations can celebrate their commitment to empowering educators.

Future Projects

Online Forum

Our online forum will be a space for teachers to connect and collaborate with other educators around the world, which will facilitate co-created and globally informed lessons.

Teachers will have the ability to highlight their skills (such as refugee education training and ESL endorsements), be invited to participate in panels, and offer feedback on current issues affecting the field.

Resource Library

The TEAL resource library will offer academics in the fields of education and international development to connect with teachers in order to promote researching with teachers and not on them.

Educators will be able to read current literature concerning the field, and contribute their own perspectives in the forms of articles and blogs.

Conferences

Eventually, we’ll host regional conferences which bring teachers together to discuss current issues, trends, and development in the field of education.

This celebration of teachers’ expertise will also act as a hub for representatives from development organizations and teacher training programs to gain insight on teachers’ perspectives on education.

Pre+Pros

Pre+Pro events are special town halls where local teachers and university staff come together to improve teacher training programs by connecting future teachers (Pre) with experienced ones (Pro).

Experienced teachers share current knowledge about teaching, and future teachers bring new ideas.

These talks help shape teacher training programs and build trust and confidence between current and future teachers.
