Board Chair

William Smith is a senior lecturer and Director of Internationalisation at Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh. His teaching experience spans 6 years, when he worked as a secondary social studies school teacher in the United States. As a researcher, William focuses on how national and international level policy impact equality in education – specifically pertaining to poverty alleviation.

William Smith was one of two researchers who contributed to the development of Structured Democratic Voice (SDV) - TEAL’s core theory of change. He’s passionate about teacher involvement in education development.
