Economic Equity Advisor

Julianne Meiu is a former Teach For America secondary English teacher and a current Charter School Specialist at the Rhode Island Department of Education, where she supports educator pipeline initiatives. She is completing a Master’s in Urban Education Policy at Brown University and has held policy fellowships with Leadership for Educational Equity, as well as a role as Special Assistant to the Chief of Capital Planning at Boston Public Schools.

As TEAL’s Economic Equity Advisor, Julianne brings a rare blend of classroom experience and policy expertise to ensure the organization’s work effectively supports educators in Title I schools and working‑class communities. Her commitment to teacher advocacy and dismantling economic barriers to student success helps TEAL build strategies that are both sustainable and grounded in the realities of under‑resourced schools.
